My 2018 Goals

One of my favourite Christmas presents this year was my Happiness Planner. It is a diary where you can track your feelings, thoughts and ultimately aim to improve your happiness. I was filling out the 2018 goals section and it inspired me to note down my goals for 2018 on my blog. I like to set realistic goals for myself, to stay motivated and achieve them for the year. I know you can set goals any time of the year, but a fresh new year that started on a Monday seemed a perfect place to start.

Stop worrying (as much!)

My first goal is something I've been trying to work on for numerous years now. I have accepted I am an anxious person and I sometimes cannot control what I do worry about. But, I want to make a conscious effort to not worry about things that do not matter and concentrate my effort on things that really do matter in life.

Be more selfish

I love doing things for others, and I do very often put everyone else before myself, but this usually results in my own happiness/health decreasing. So my next goal is to have more "me" time, whether it's sitting and watching a film or having a pamper, I need to make sure I look after myself as well as those around me.

Graduate with a grade I'm proud of

This year I will (hopefully!!) graduate from university, which I am so excited/scared about. As long as I know I have done all I can and put 110% effort into everything I have done, I will be happy with whatever grade I get. It's going to be a tough few months but I am determined to make myself proud.

Save money for a house

This year, I really want to start seriously saving for a house. I don't plan to move out this year as I'd like to save more whilst I'm at home, but once I am in a full-time job there is no excuse not to be putting money away each month for a deposit.

See more of the world

I love holidays and I am already pretty excited for Summer. I am starting 2018 off with a trip to New York, followed by a trip to Amsterdam in February, so I'm already putting things in place to achieve this goal! I am excited to see where we go in the Summer as we want to see a country we've never visited before, and I really want to travel around rather than stay in one place too.

Stop putting pressure on myself

In the past, I have felt as though I have to post a certain amount on social media and on my blog but I really need to stop putting this pressure on myself. I would rather post quality over quantity, and it's okay to not post for a while, a social media break is always healthy.

I have a really good feeling about this year and I can't wait to see what it brings! There is going to be a lot of change but I'm going to embrace it and ride the storm.

What are your goals for this year?

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Lovely goals! Good luck with your grades, I'm sure you'll do great! Seeing more of the world is alwayssss my goal, and sometimes I think I do need to stop putting so much pressure on myself. I can be guilty of over worrying that I'm not working as hard as or being the best I should be/could be.
